Luxurious Lake Home

For this project, Hay Design was retained to renovate the client’s main house, and the icehouse from the 1800’s, that are on the property. Upon starting renovations, it was determined that the house had to be demolished due to it’s poor foundation structure. As this was to be the summer home for the family, they decided that a complete new build was the only solution in the end.

The house consists of four bedrooms, six bathrooms, an art studio, a home office, a gym, a large kitchen with walk-in pantry, a dining room, living room, a secondary basement living room complete with bar area, a games room, a theatre, a wine cellar, and many storage areas and closets, as well as a large porch off the back of the house!

Some of the project objectives were to preserve some of the original building materials and character of the original house and incorporate them into the new build, and create a unique custom design details throughout the house. The client desired separate areas for him and her, several guest bedrooms, and fun common areas to entertain in. Hay Design wanted to create one-of-a-kind spaces, and most importantly, maximize the view to the lake on all sides of the house.

Some constraints of the project were that there were several bespoke details to coordinate. The clients also frequently travelled out of town, so communication was key throughout the design and construction process.

We are so happy with this project and the classic, yet refined, lake home feel that was achieved. We know that our clients will love hosting their family and friends in this customized space for years to come! What do you think of the results?
